Bistro Seven Three - Bernardsville, NJ

Updated: Jul 22, 2022

Mr. Chester, my in laws and I went to Bistro Seven Three for the first time a few weeks ago. I have been wanting to go for quite some time now. Their Instagram page makes me drool, run by the amazing Gina. I was so excited to go!

We walked "in", more like walked onto their property which is across from the Bernardsville train station nestled between their building and another's, kind of like an ally. There are tables and chairs everywhere for people to sit and enjoy. There is also an atrium type sitting area, which was added during COVID and is still utilized, it is awesome! We made a reservation for 6 pm and immediately saw Jo from J. Skin Design Studio sitting with her cousin enjoying her meal. It was such a pleasure meeting Gina for the first time as we have spoken via Instagram for a while now. Gina asked if we wanted to sit on the patio or in the atrium and I left it up to her on what she thought would be the best option. She chose atrium, which was perfection.

There were faux flowers hanging from the "ceiling" and it was a really enjoyable place to be. My mother-in-law is a cocktail connoisseur, so she had a fresh watermelon cocktail prepped in her YETI ready to be served! We got ice and placed them in the round goblets, which I loved, and cheers to a new restaurant! You know Mr. Chester and I love trying a new place, so do his parents, we do it together often.

The menu is not big, which I prefer. Do less and do it really well. We took a look at the menu, and when we try a new place we tend to go full force. We ordered the thick cut bacon, which was a special, as well as the organic green salad. I love anything with goat cheese and candied walnuts, anything. The salad had julienne apple, goat cheese, candied walnuts, dried cranberry with a honey walnut dressing. After we ordered, they sent over the tuna pizza which is fresh spicy ahi tuna on top of a crispy rice cake. The salad was delicious, you can't go wrong with goat cheese. The bacon was a bit too thick for us, it was almost like slabs of ham, which, yes, I know it is, but, we like our bacon crispy. The tuna pizza was delicious, Mr. Chester was obsessed with the rice.

Dinner was a tough choice, there were so many good options as well as specials. The service was awesome. Everyone helped each other out and we always had fresh water, ice for our cocktails and the food came at perfect times. I decided on the eggplant parmesan which had pecorino and mozzarella, tomato basil sauce with melted burrata on top. I love burrata, LOVE. I will say, I think burrata is so rich that it is best to be matched with fresh tomato rather than on top of a dish. The eggplant was delicious. Mr. Chester got the veal chop parmesan with San Marzano tomato sauce, melted mozzarella and rigatoni pasta. He loves it and it was HUGE!!

We were not going to get dessert, even though I really wanted it, but luckily they sent over two dishes without us even asking!! They sent over the chocolate filled churros, YUM , and the molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream, YUM again. They were both delicious and I was happy to have been able to try them!!

Overall, I recommend visiting Bistro Seven Three (just realizing while writing this it should be spelled out like that rather than Bistro73, G, correct me if I am wrong!!). It is BYO, the ambiance is amazing, the service is fantastic, and you won't have a bad meal.
